My current class mentor, Professor Damawan, once said to me, "I think you have to be a great scientist as well as a great teacher." This sentence not only left a deep impression on me but also opened my eyes to the field of digital learning. It even granted me the opportunity to participate in academic forums alongside professors in my department and co-author a paper that was later published in English.
Thanks to Dr. Damawan, I was able to immerse myself in the 2025 TWELF atmosphere and seize the opportunity to present a joint paper. The topic of our paper was the reality of interactive discussions in VR (Virtual Reality) group design within one of our department’s courses. We employed the research method of "Epistemic Network Analysis" to examine the correlation between peer interaction and group cooperation in completing assigned tasks. Although I lacked a solid foundation in data analysis and research methodologies, and I was merely one of the subjects in this study, Dr. Damawan still assisted me in replying other professors’ questions during the Q&A session. This support allowed me to share our research findings with other harmonious professors and graduate students during the conference.
Moreover, through this forum, I had the chance to meet numerous professors and graduate students from universities across Taiwan with backgrounds in digital technology research. We engaged in discussions about digital learning and its interdisciplinary applications in teaching and research. In the eyes of many professors in the audience, my performance might have been impressive, potentially making me a target for recruitment among graduate programs. As a result, I have gained a variety of options for future research opportunities.
Last but not least, I want to encourage the upcoming college students to make full use of the learning resources available from the department, and you can find that the benefits extend beyond enriching college life—they can also become significant milestones in your academic and professional journey!
